What you’ll need before you start

You can sign up on the Republic Europe website or mobile app. Before you begin, have the following ready:

  • A phone or computer with a camera

  • Your ID (passport, driving licence or national ID)

  • Your nationality and country of residence

  • Your tax identification number (TIN) — for UK residents, this is your National Insurance number (NI)

  • A recent proof of address, if needed

There are 4 steps to complete your account setup.

1. Sign up and enter your details

  1. Go to the sign-up page or open the app.

  2. Enter your email, create a password, and accept the membership agreement.

  3. Confirm your email address.

  4. Add your full name (as shown on your ID) and date of birth.

  5. Provide your nationality, country of residence, and full address.

  6. Confirm your tax residency and provide your TIN or NI number.

Note: Signing up for a business? See how to create an institutional investor account.

2. Complete the risk warning and quiz

All users must confirm their understanding of the risks involved in early-stage investing.

  • You’ll be shown a short quiz about the risks.

  • We recommend reading our risk warnings before starting.

🇬🇧 UK users: If you don’t answer the quiz correctly twice, you’ll need to wait 24 hours before trying again.

🌍 EU and other users: There’s no waiting period for retrying the quiz.

3. Choose your investor profile

You’ll be shown investor profile options based on where you live.

🇬🇧 For UK residents

You’ll need to select one of the following:

🔸 Restricted investor

You invest less than 10% of your net assets in unlisted investments each year.

🔸 Sophisticated investor

You’ve invested in multiple unlisted companies, served as a company director, or are part of an angel network.

🔸 High net worth investor

You earn more than £100,000 per year or have £250,000+ in net assets.

Before moving on, UK users will also:

  • Answer a few final questions

  • Review and agree to the investor profile they’ve selected

  • Accept updated risk warnings

Note: You can change your investor profile later if your circumstances change.

🇪🇺 For EU residents

You’ll need to select:

🔸 Sophisticated investor

You meet at least two of the following:

  • Annual income over €60,000 or financial portfolio over €100,000

  • Relevant experience in financial services or an executive role in a qualifying business

  • Completed 10+ capital market transactions per quarter over the past year

🔸 Non-sophisticated investor

You don’t meet the above criteria and have completed the loss calculator, which confirms your ability to bear loss.

🌍 For residents outside the UK and EU

You’ll be asked to confirm whether you are an accredited or sophisticated investor based on your local regulations.

If you're eligible, you can go ahead with using the platform.

4. Verify your identity

Once your profile is confirmed, you’ll move on to ID verification.

🇬🇧 UK users

  • Some users will be verified automatically.

  • Others may be asked to upload:

    • A photo of your ID

    • A liveness check (camera and microphone)

    • A proof of address, if needed

🌍 EU and all other users

  • You’ll be asked to complete:

    • A photo upload of your ID

    • A liveness check using your camera and microphone

    • A proof of address, if required

What happens next

Once your identity is verified, we’ll send you a confirmation email.

You’ll then be able to view and invest in live campaigns, take part in campaign discussions, buy shares on the Secondary Market, and start building your portfolio — if these features are available in your region.
